Exercise: Formed Curve on Cylinder
- Feature > Create > Solid > Protrusion >
Blend > Solid (*thin) > Done
* Use Thin if the blend
is hollow
- Rotational > Done
- Smooth > Done
- Create the first section on the sketching plane,
- Add a 'sketched coordinate system' on top of the part
Csys,
- You may also add a vertical centerline to use in creating
a Diameter dimension.
- Done
- Enter 90 degrees about the Y-axis for the
second sketch
- Create a 'sketched coordinate system' (anywhere)
- Draw (or retrieve) your section exactly the same as the
first
- Add a vertical dimension in addition to the radius.
- Done
- Feature > Copy > Move > Dependent > Done
- Select the blended feature > Done
- Translate > Csys > Z-axis > Okay
- Enter a distance equal to the height of the 2nd blend
section
- Rotate > Csys > Z-axis > Okay
- 90 degrees > Done > Okay
- Pattern > varying (or general) > Done
- Select the copied feature's height dimension (near the
1st sketch copy)
- Enter that same value
- Select the copied feature's rotational dimension, and
enter that same value
- Done
- Enter the quantity of ¼ turns you want (minus 1)
- Done
- Add two relations:
Set the distance of the 2nd sketch from part center equal
to the 1st sketch distance
Set the pattern height increment equal to the height value
of the 2nd sketch
